Runaway Señora
Last weekend I went to Puerto Rico. We had this trip booked for monthsd. I believe we booked it in December. The plan was to go shopping. Because as lovely and lively this island is, there is no real shopping possibilities. Now y'all know shopping is like torture for me. I think I could be spending my time reading a book and actually relaxing instead of walking around on hurting feet and looking at things I can't afford anyway. And all that for a small moment of pleasure after which the pain of having wasted money will hit you like a ton of bricks.
So there I was living in Plaza las Americas or rather sitting on benches across Plaza las Americas while everyone else went to do there thing. But what I won't forget is our time at Best Buys.
I wanted a Kindle. There were actually just a few things on my list. I wanted books, movies and a Kindle. So on we went to Best Buys. After the glorious moment of parting with my money and carrying my Kindle out of the store, we stopped dead in our tracks. It was raining. The mall is across the street from Best Buy but how were we going to get there with all our bags? So we said there and contemplated. We asked for a ride but the puertoriqueños weren't to friendly. While considering the alternatives we decided we were going to steal the cart and roll everything into the mall. Off we went, down in the elvator and through the parking garage. I was pushing the cart down the street when I heard someone yelling behind me. Hey! Hey! Señora! Espera! Now you know I kept walking like I had an Ipod in my ears oblivious to everything and everyone. Then I heard footsteps behind me. The security guard was running after me. You know I let them catch up with me. I wasn't stopping for him so he better run fast.
He did catch me and I had to give up the cart but for a moment there it felt good paying back for .... for what? Let me think about that ....
