A Present is a Present Regardless of the Giver ... Or Not
The Human Resources guy is now seriously freaking me out. He called yesterday to tell me to come by to pick up something. He got me something for my birthday. How can I refuse? On the one hand, this is getting in the weird category and on the other hand, what did he get me? Y'all are probably wondering how things got this far. To be honest, I don't know either but I'll try my best to explain.
It all started on new year's eve when The sisters went to get their pedicure done. Sitting in the shop enjoying the music my sister L got to talking to the lady and to cut the story short, the lady told her she can make her a copy of the CD. Good, but not really since the CD would not be ready before she had to go back to Curacao. No worries I said, I know someone who goes every week ... the HR guy.
So I call him up to ask if he was going. He said No but he probably knows someone who is so that person can take it. All I needed to do was drop it off. He kept talking and I tell him my birthday is coming up. As he starts to ask me if he can come I am looking for any kind of excuse but nothing is coming to mind. My phone then beeps so I tell him I got to go. Since I never got around to telling him where I live I thought I was off the hook. The operative word is thought because when I drop off the CD that Friday. He picks up right where he left of. Pushed in a corner I had to give him directions.
How to get out of this? Especially since I have other people coming that I are definitely on the maybe list. Saturday it hits me, actually it hits my friends but I am claiming their brilliance (it is not actually lying if you admit to lying), I am going to tell him that it turned into a girls only day. Sunday morning I call and text him but I am not getting through. The girls and I come up with the following scenario: if he walks in we are going to tell him that we are just getting ready to go, he can have a beer for on the road but he needs to get and then we are going to actually leave the house, drive around the block and come back. I was going to go in the room to finish getting ready; this so I wouldn't have any conversation. But, I was going to take the present.
Now I realize that was never going to work since there were boys at the party so I am going to blame it on the alcohol we hadn't drunk yet when we came up with the plan.
He never showed up and to be honest I forgot all about him once it got going. So when he called to tell me that he actually came and was walking around looking for my place I was shocked and very happy that my place is kind of hidden. But I am keeping the present.
