Police Stalker and a Ride in a Police Buggy
Today we rode in the back of a police buggy, chased a police car and begged to be handcuffed. All of that in the span of one hour. Let me explain to you what happened...
At work we are busy with this project where we need to map the whole of St. Maarten, the dutch side. This means walking and recording every lot on this beautiful island. Right around midday we found ourselves on one side of town, with the office on the opposite side. Hunger and fatigue were battling against each other and we really were not looking forward to the walk back. So we were sitting on a bench conversating with one of the police officers on bike patrol, trying to catch ourselves before starting the trek back to work when along comes the police buggy. It looks like a golf cart but I am sure it has a lot more horsepower. I joked with the sergeant and told him if we couldn't bum a ride back to the office. To my surprise he went and told them to take us back to the office. So there we were in the back on the buggy, going through town. "Are they criminals?", "Have they been arrested?". These are just a few of the comments I heard. But I could care less, I was having fun. Even got them to turn on the siren to have people move out of the way. I felt so powerful when they stopped this young boy to ask him why he was not in school. As if I was the real police officer ... I would be a bad-ass I am sure.
Finally we got back to the office and heard through the grapevine that one of our police friends, the best-looking police officer to my opinion, was doing traffic stops up the road. My colleague and I flew out of the office to go and have him stop us. We do this all the time as soon as we hear he is somewhere. Have you ever seen someone voluntarily stop for a police check? No? Well we do it. The moment he sees us coming, he already starts to shake his head. So we reach the spot and there is no one. Not even a single piece of paper to signify their presence. Disappointed we turn around to go back to the office when we see him going the opposite direction. If he was paying attention he would have seen us doing an illegal u-turn on the road. We followed his car for a good ten minutes until he stopped somewhere else. We pulled up behind him and he was shaking his head again when he saw who it was following him. Gosh, the man is hot. But even taking off our seat-belts did not get us a ticket. We tried to get him to search us but no luck yet. One of these days ...
